The Pakistan Meteorological Department (Met Office) has issued a forecast for another widespread monsoon spell across the country, expected to commence from Tuesday, July 29, 2026. The advisory comes amid ongoing flood risks in several regions.
According to the Met Office, the new weather system is likely to bring heavy to very heavy rainfall to various parts of the country, including Punjab, Sind, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan. The downpours may trigger urban flooding in major cities and landslides in hilly areas.
Preparedness Measures Underway
>In anticipation of the monsoon spell, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Secretary has ordered 100 percent preparedness across the province. Authorities have been directed to ensure the availability of machinery, dewatering pumps, and emergency response teams to mitigate potential damage.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has confirmed that a flood situation persists in the rivers of Punjab. Officials are monitoring water levels and coordinating with district administrations to evacuate vulnerable populations if necessary.
