ISLAMABAD – Acting President of Pakistan Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani on Tuesday honored Havaldar Lalak Jan Shaheed, recipient of the Nishan-e-Haider, on the 27th anniversary of his martyrdom, hailing him as an enduring emblem of courage and patriotism.
Extraordinary Bravery in Kargil Conflict
In a statement marking the occasion, Gilani highlighted the soldier’s exceptional valor during the 1999 Kargil conflict, where Lalak Jan defended Pakistan’s borders with unwavering determination until his death on July 7, 1999. The acting president described his sacrifice as a “shining symbol” of devotion to the motherland.
Inspiration for Future Generations
Gilani emphasized that the martyr’s supreme sacrifice continues to inspire future generations, reflecting the highest traditions of service and sacrifice in the nation’s defense. “The nation salutes its martyrs and their families, whose sacrifices have strengthened Pakistan’s sovereignty,, and national resolve,” he said.
Prayers for Peace and Prosperity
The acting president concluded by praying for the elevation of Lalak Jan’s rank in Jannah and for lasting peace, stability, and prosperity for Pakistan.
