Pakistan’s First Lady, Asifa Bhutto Zardari, met with Indonesian Ambassador Chandra Warsenanto Sukotjo at Bilawal House in Karachi on Thursday, where both sides expressed a shared commitment to expanding bilateral ties across multiple sectors.
The meeting, which included the ambassador’s spouse, focused on strengthening cooperation in trade, investment, agriculture, education, healthcare, technology transfer, and cultural exchanges. The First Lady commended the successful organization of the Pakistan-Indonesia Investment Forum in Karachi, praising the ambassador’s efforts to boost economic engagement between the two nations.

During the discussion, the First Lady highlighted the longstanding friendship between Pakistan and Indonesia, rooted in mutual respect and shared values. She recalled the close personal friendship between Indonesia’s founding President Sukarno and her grandfather, former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, noting that both leaders were united by their commitment to newly independent nations and Asian solidarity.

Pakistan expressed interest in learning from Indonesia’s successful experience in family planning and population management. The First Lady also highlighted potential cooperation in healthcare, including technology transfer, vaccine development, and Pakistan’s ongoing polio eradication efforts.
The ambassador briefed the First Lady on his recent visit to various parts of Sindh, sharing positive impressions of the province’s agricultural and investment potential. He reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation, particularly in trade, agriculture, palm oil, rice, investment, healthcare, and cultural exchanges.
